While tourists begin filing out of the Okanagan at the end of summer, there’s still so much to do in Kelowna in the fall. In fact, it’s one of the most beautiful seasons in the valley, and it’s also one of the best times to stay at Kelowna hotels because of two of our most precious resources: apples and golf courses.

If you’re looking for a short or long holiday in BC this fall, look no further than the sunny, green hills of Kelowna, where apples are being picked and some of Canada’s best golf is being played.

Why October in Kelowna is great for golf

Many Kelowna hotels offer amazing stay and play deals, giving you discounts on accommodations as well as green fees. Plus, your bookings are all taken care of. Since October is a shoulder season, rates are cheaper and the fairways see a little less traffic, giving you great tee times on world-class courses.

The Okanagan valley is home to some 20 golf courses to accommodate all budgets and golfers. Many courses offer fantastic lake and vineyard views as well as sunny, wind-less weather. Be sure to bring your clubs and your appetite as many clubhouses have award-winning chefs cooking up gourmet meals featuring local ingredients.

Why you’ll want to take in the apple harvest

It’s pretty hard to beat apples fresh off the tree. With the Okanagan’s rich orchard industry, agri-tourism is booming. Throughout the fall, you’ll find dozens of harvest events and some of the best apples in the world in Kelowna, at apple stands along the highways and in crates at the Kelowna Farmer’s and Crafter’s Market just minutes away from our Kelowna hotel.

September and October is harvest time for some of Canadians favourite varieties, from Braeburn and Royal Gala to Red Delicious and McIntosh. Learn more about the orchard industry, explore the rows of apple trees and taste apples in all of its forms—as awhole fruit, in jams, in juice, in pies and more at farm-to-market sites like Gatzke’s Orchard in Lake Country and Davison’s Orchard in Vernon.
