If you love Kelowna wine, check out the Fall Wine Festival. 

As the cooler weather beings to roll in and the grapes ripen on the vines, the 37th annual Fall Wine Festival is expected to kick off. Catering to wine-loving locals and visitors staying at their favourite Kelowna hotel, this festival lasts about ten days during the heart of the grape harvest season.

With approximately 165 separate events occurring, there are so many different ways to celebrate. Here are just a few of them:  


Fall Westjet Wine Tastings

If you’re planning on flying into the Okanagan for the festival, try and time your flight with one of these tasting sessions. Held in downtown Kelowna, this popular wine tasting event features more than 200 different wines from all across the province. Snacks, live music, and a safe ride home help make this event one to remember.


When: September 29 and 30, 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Where: Rotary Centre for the Arts, Kelowna


River Stone Estate Winery Fall Cooking Class

Mix your passion for cooking with your love of wine at this one-of-a-kind cooking class. Winemaker Ted Kane and Backyard Farm Chef Chris Van Hooydonk will help you incorporate delicious fall flavours that pair beautifully with some of the new River Stone wine releases.


When: September 28, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Where: River Stone Estate Winery, Oliver


Grape Stomping Party

Do you remember that iconic episode of I Love Lucy where Lucille Ball hops into a wooden barrel and makes hilarious faces while stomping on grapes? Well, you can do it too, funny faces and all! This stomping party is fun for the whole family, so bring everyone along with you.


When: September 30 and October 7, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Where: House of Rose Winery, Kelowna


Starry Plates Winemaker’s Dinner

This romantic event is set in the perfect venue, complete with a background of the starlit Okanagan sky. Sip on wine, sample fantastic canapés, and indulge in a small plate four-course tasting menu while mixing and mingling with fellow wine lovers.


When: September 30, 6:00 pm

Where: CedarCreek Estate Winery, Kelowna


Working Viticulture Class and Harvest Lunch

Be a winemaker for a day! This class will help you learn about Quails’ Gate’s history, viticulture practices, and how they cultivate and create their amazing grapes. After all the work is done, enjoy an afternoon toast while enjoying a perfectly prepared harvest lunch.


When: October 1, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Where: Quails’ Gate Estate Winery, West Kelowna


The Young Chefs Presented by Kelowna International Airport

Watch as ten apprentice chefs battle it out to become the Top Young Chef. Their mission? Prepare a unique, handcrafted small plate that pairs impeccably well with their partner winery. Incorporating fresh fish from Haida Wild, cheese from Saputo, and Canadian beef, these chefs will test their creativity and passion for cooking while you sit back and watch.


When: October 5, 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Where: Okanagan College Centre for Learning, Kelowna
