How Hotels in Kelowna Cater to Guests with Different Needs

Kelowna hotels pet friendly

Many hotels in Kelowna are outfitting rooms to make them more comfortable for visitors with different needs, such as those travelling with pets.

People who stay at hotels in Kelowna have different needs. Their particular requirements can be as varied as their reasons for visiting this beautiful Okanagan city. Some come here on business, others come to enjoy the outdoors, while some have already fallen in love with the area and have returned to buy a home.

Fortunately, hospitality is the name of the game in this industry, and most accommodation providers go out of their way to make sure all of their guests feel right at home. In particular, there are a few situations where Kelowna hotels make an extra effort to cater to different groups:

People with Pets

People love their pets. So much so that they’ll often bring them wherever they go. The good news is there are a few Kelowna pet friendly hotels in the area, including the BEST WESTERN PLUS Kelowna Hotel & Suites, which welcome visitors and their pooches.

Some of the features commonly found in such establishments include:

  • Choice of room sizes
  • Ground floor walkout patios
  • Complimentary pet packs (treats and toys)

If you are travelling with a four-legged companion, don’t assume that all of the hotels in Kelowna are pet friendly. Others might only have a limited number of rooms, so be sure to call in advance when making your booking.

People with Physical Challenges

Many people with mobility issues don’t let their challenges get in the way of travelling, and nor should they. With a few modifications, hotel rooms can be set up to provide better access for people in wheelchairs, and those who need a little extra support moving around.

Some of those features include:

  • Larger bathrooms
  • Additional support bars in key areas
  • Removable shower chairs
  • Roll-in showers
  • Raised bathroom sinks

For travellers in wheelchairs who need the assistance of a service dog (or simply the companionship of their fur baby), places like Best Western Kelowna provide wheelchair accessible rooms that are pet friendly.

People with Allergies

For people with allergies and sensitive respiratory systems, it can be a challenge to find places to stay that won’t aggravate their condition. That’s why they appreciate it when hotels can offer hypoallergenic rooms.

To provide a more comfortable atmosphere for people with asthma and acute allergies, some Kelowna hotels have removed the carpet from certain rooms. This is because, even when vacuumed and cleaned frequently, carpet fibres can contain irritants such as:

  • Dust
  • Dander
  • Pollen
  • Other allergens

In place of carpet, many hotels in Kelowna use a combination of tile (entranceways and bathrooms) and cork flooring (living area). In place of upholstered furniture, some accommodation providers use wood instead.
