There’s no denying the influence TripAdvisor and similar websites have had on the hospitality industry. From rating Kelowna hotels and restaurants, to recommending the top attractions in the area, they provide a valuable service to travellers all over the world.

At BEST WESTERN PLUS Kelowna Hotel & Suites, we want to know what our guests think about us. We also want to know what our guests like to do when they’re here. With that in mind, here are some of the things to do around Kelowna hotels TripAdvisor members like best:

1. Myra Canyon Park

Truly one of the most beautiful places you’ll find in the Okanagan, the Myra Canyon is well worth the visit. Built at the turn of the last century, this impressive landmark is highlighted by two tunnels and 18 trestle bridges. You can visit this area:

  • On foot
  • By bike
  • Guided tour

For more information, visit the Myra Canyon Restoration Society website.

2. Lake Okanagan

Measuring 135km from head to foot (Vernon to Penticton), Okanagan Lake is the source of a lot of fun in summer. There’s something for everyone:

  • Swimming
  • Boating and sailing
  • Jet-skiing
  • Towed water sports
  • Kayaking

3. Knox Mountain Park

Located a short drive from the Kelowna hotels downtown, Knox Mountain Park is perfect for a quick outing. It comprises 10 trails and 235 hectares of grassland and forest. While many of the trails have steep inclines, the views of the cityscape from the top are worth it (you can also drive to the top if you’d rather skip the hike).

4. Okanagan Villa Estate Winery

Home to The Vibrant Vine Tasting Room, this winery is one of the most beautiful destinations. It features:

  • Mediterranean courtyard
  • Italian fountain
  • Manicured vineyards

5. Waterfront Park

This is a great area to go for a short walk and enjoy the scenery of Okanagan Lake. The 2km easy-going trail and boardwalk provides access to:

  • Rotary Marshes wildlife Park
  • Sandy beaches
  • Landscaped gardens
  • Paddle boat rentals

6. Wine Tours & Tastings

The wine theme seems to be popular among those staying at Kelowna hotels TripAdvisor members recommend. We can’t blame them. We’re in the heart of wine country and there are a number of Okanagan wine tours that are sure to please your palate.

7. Kasugai Japanese Gardens

Located in the heart of downtown, the Kasugai Japanese Gardens are an oasis of tranquillity.

Named for one of Kelowna's sister cities, Kasugai Gardens were completed in 1987 and feature some of the traditional elements of a Japanese garden:

  • Rock garden
  • Koi pond & bridge
  • Waterfall
  • Oriental plants & stone lanterns

8. City Park

This is the crown jewel in Kelowna’s extensive park system. Popular with locals and visitors alike, it features:

  • Long sandy beaches
  • Lawn bowling club
  • Water park
  • Playgrounds
  • Picnic area
  • Running track
