If you were to spread a map of Kelowna on the table, close your eyes and plunk down your finger, there’s a pretty good chance you’d be touching a golf course.
It’s hard to believe, but across the Okanagan Valley, you have your pick of almost 40 courses. Nineteen golf courses are located within minutes of most Kelowna hotels, seven of which are championship courses designed by the likes of Thomas McBroom, Les Furber and Greg Norman.
In fact, Kelowna has “easily become one of Canada’s best golf destinations,” according to Bob Weeks, the golf journalist behind SCOREGolf magazine. And it’s not just because of the sheer numbers of golf courses in such close proximity, it’s everything else too: the utter lack of wind, the sun, the long season, the stunning lake views, the fruit trees lining fairways, the immaculate conditions, the access to tee times, and all there is to do before and after a round within walking distance of Kelowna hotels.
Now that you’re convinced, plan your Kelowna golf trip with this handy guide, complete with all the information you need to make the most out of your Okanagan golf vacation.
With golf courses in every direction and some so close you can see other courses, you might be able to plan it so you get off the plane at 7:30 a.m., get to the first tee box by 8 a.m., hit the 19th hole around 1 p.m., and make your way down the road to course 2 for a sunset round. Welcome to Kelowna.
Kelowna’s tourism industry takes care of its visiting golfers, and you’ll certainly be able to take advantage of that with amazing stay and play golf packages at most Kelowna hotels.
By choosing a hotel that offers a golf package, you’ll enjoy discounted green fees and room rates.
Keep an eye out for packages that include:
Many a golfer has become a local after a golf holiday in the Okanagan, and part of the reason is the incredibly long, warm, and dry season golfers here enjoy. Not only is the spring and fall a beautiful, more mild time of year to visit the valley, you’ll also enjoy quieter courses, more tee times and shoulder rates.

Do you love wine as much as you love your woods? Consider planning your golf trip to coincide with one of the renowned Okanagan wine festivals in the spring or fall.
Kelowna is also home to several popular music festivals, concerts and events you can peruse in Tourism Kelowna’s annual events calendar so you can enjoy the nightlife and the fairways.
Perched in the rolling Okanagan hills and with lake and city views from 16 holes, Tower Ranch Golf & Country Club is a sight to behold, and the golf, full of elevation changes and dramatic fairways, is pretty spectacular too.
In this edition of Golf Kelowna’s Epic Holes series, head CPGA pro Neil Schmidt talks about how Kelowna’s newest course somehow plays like it’s always been here, and offers a few tips for playing Tower Ranch’s signature hole.
When The Travel Guys’ Jim Gordon and Darren Parkman visit Kelowna, a round of golf is at the top of the itinerary. So, along with head CPGA pro Chad Scott, the pair attempts to take on The Harvest Golf Club, a 7,109-yard track located in downtown Kelowna with fairways of apple trees and wine grapes.
What’s also great about this episode is you can see what else there is to enjoy during your time in Kelowna.
In the introduction to this Molson Canadian 67 Tee-Off Season clip, SCOREGolf magazine editor Bob Weeks says here in Kelowna, “The only thing you can find more than golf courses is hockey players out playing golf.”
As part of the Tee-Off series, Weeks interviews then Calgary Flames forward Blake Comeau as they tee up at the prestigious Kelowna Golf & Country Club. You’ll also see stunning images of some of the city’s other popular courses.
Read what Weeks has to say about his time filming the Okanagan Tee-Off series shows in his article Kelowna Delivers Amazing Golf.
