Three Halloween Activities in Kelowna:
The Haunted Howler
The inaugural Halloween Comedy Festival, being held at the Kelowna Community Theatre Oct. 31, features four of Canada’s funniest comics performing in a night of dark comedy. The lineup includes headliner and ‘That Canadian Guy’ Glen Foster, known for his clever, edgy and sometimes politically incorrect but always popular humour. Joining him on stage are Aboriginal comic Howie Miller, Garrett Clark and Brett Martin, all set to have you howling the night away. Before and after the laughter, the all-ages crowd can take in the costume contest, haunted house and chilling drinks. The Haunted Howler opens at 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Kelowna Community Theatre.
Spend the night on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen in this spooky sea epic. Six sailors battle the sea and their fears after their ship sinks on the North Atlantic. The Disappeared, a Canadian film by Shandi Mitchell, has received rave reviews for its casting and storytelling. Being shown by The Kelowna Film Society, The Disappeared offers you a night of suspense at Famous Players, just blocks from most Harvey Avenue Kelowna hotels. The show gets underway at 7 p.m. and tickets are $7.
This tense and beloved tale of Jean Valjean in 19th century France offers a dramatic performance for all ages. Performed at the Kelowna Actors Studio Oct. 23 to Nov. 10, Les Miserables brings to the Okanagan one of the world’s most popular musicals and stories of justice and redemption. After nearly 20 years of an unfounded prison term, Valjean breaks loose and outwits police until the student uprising where he saves a student and surprises an inspector. In this dinner theatre production, dinner is at 6:15 p.m. and the performance begins at 8 p.m.
