Here in the sunny Okanagan Valley, our Best Western Kelowna Hotel boasts the “best of the best” for outdoor adventure—for everyone from novices to the hardcore-hikers!

Whether you’re looking for something to do for just an hour or two, or dedicate an entire day to an outdoors adventure, our Kelowna hotel can help. We are centrally located close to many hiking trails so you can get some fresh air and experience what we locals love to do in the summer!  And the best part: we have AC in all of our rooms so you can cool off after that hike and reenergize with some room service from ORA.

Mission Creek Greenway

Only a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the main lobby doors and less than a 10 minute walk away, you have over 16km of level, gravel-filled walkways along Mission Creek to escape the city hubbub for as long as you wish! This park spans from Okanagan Lake all the way into Spring Valley. There are playgrounds and picnic areas for you to bring the whole family to spend the afternoon. Be sure to visit the Eco Centre to learn more about Okanagan flora & fauna!  Just don’t forget the bug spray if you’re walking there in the later afternoon…

Waterfront Boardwalk

The local #97 bus picks up just outside our Kelowna hotel on Harvey Avenue and will drop you off downtown at Queensway Station. From there, you will be able to walk straight ahead to the lakeside boardwalk.  Easy for the whole family, this 2km stroll will take you from the heart of downtown Kelowna & City Park. If you visit the Chichester Bird Sanctuary while there, you might be lucky enough to spot a heron or falcon perched on one of the treetops.  Snap a few photos, or simply sit and relax to enjoy the lakeside view. Ahh, heavenly.

Myra Canyon Trestles

Sure, you may have walked along railroad tracks before, but what about a trail alongside trestles spanning over vast canyons overlooking the city? The Myra Canyon Trestles – originally built in the 19th Century as part of the Canadian Pacific Railway - are an absolute must see during any visit to Kelowna; solo or with the family!  From our Kelowna hotel, the entrance to the trail head is only a 30-minute drive away (with easy-to-follow directions provided by our Front Desk staff. Bonus!)

Whether you decide to take an easy stroll, or tackle that mountain yonder, visit us to experience the “best of the best” outdoor hiking in Kelowna!  And if you’re looking for something a little tougher, there are plenty more challenging hikes in the area. Ask our Guest Services staff for further suggestions, or check out Tourism Kelowna for a complete listing.

Additionally, you can check out our "Best of the Best" Youtube series for activities around Kelowna in any season you wish!
