If you’re a foodie or a film buff who loves vino, we’ve got a festival for you. Kelowna hotels are welcoming culinary enthusiasts, wine buffs, doc-lovers, and farmers for the inaugural Okanagan Food & Wine Film Festival (OFWFF).
What better place than Kelowna, located in the heart of the Okanagan, to unite these three areas over three days? The OFWFF runs Sept. 13-15 and offers a rare chance to view food-related films, take tours of local farms and wineries, and hear from experts in each field.
Here is a breakdown of the visual and culinary delights that await you:
The inaugural OFWFF is showing five feature films that focus on food. Included in the showings are Pressure Cooker, The Restaurateur, A Matter of Taste, To Make a Farm, and SOMM, which recently premiered at the Napa Valley Film Festival and received standing ovations as well as rave reviews. Attendees will have the chance to speak with filmmakers as well as experts on film topics after showings.
The festival is also hosting showings of short films from the Okanagan and around the world over two afternoons. All films will be shown at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, just a short walk or drive from the Kelowna hotels, and each includes time after showings to speak with filmmakers and experts on film topics.
One of the highlights for festival-goers, particularly tourists, is the chance to visit Okanagan wineries, farms, and artisanal producers. In addition to tasting some of the valley’s delicacies, including fruit, wine and cheese, guests will be able to see what really makes these industries tick by touring operations.
