The Okanagan is home to some of the most stunning countryside in BC, and all of it is easily and conveniently accessible from many centrally located Kelowna hotels. To get the most out of your next family vacation, check out these three distinctly Okanagan festivals and see for yourself what all the excitement is about.
When you first step out of your car when you first arrive at the Okanagan Lavender & Herb Farm, your senses will immediately discover the intoxicating scent of lavender.
While breathing in this beautifully aromatic scent, take a self-guided tour through the 60 different types of lavender, attend an aromatherapy workshop or a wreath-building class, pick a stunning bouquet to take home with you, and browse through the quaint gift shop. During Lavender Discovery Days, held throughout August, spend a full day discovering and enjoying Lavender.
Brought to you by Farm Folk City Folk, Feast of Fields is a festival specifically created to celebrate local restaurants that support our local farmers and vineyards. This wonderful culinary event, held Aug. 17, is a four-hour festival that takes place at the Okanagan Lavender & Herb Farm this year.
Hop on the bus, leaving from various locations close to many Kelowna hotels, and spend the next four hours sipping local wines and sampling delicious local cuisine before returning back to your hotel via bus. With so many reasons to celebrate sustainable relationships that support the Okanagan valley, the Feast of Fields is a must-see event.
If your family is full of little athletes, head over to the 32nd annual Pushor Mitchell Apple Triathlon Aug. 16 for all the competitive athletic action. Swimming, running, and cycling, these athletes come from around the country to compete for a spot in the Olympic and sprint races at the 2015 world championships in Chicago.
With different age classes, this full-day event is perfect for participating, watching, or just getting motivated to slap the pavement with your newly purchased running shoes.
If you missed this race, check out this list of upcoming events to work your competitive side!
